Pritchar Thepot has been on the PATRA Inc ACDATraineeship since July last year and won Players Player of the Month at
The Crime and Drugs Partnership where she is currently placed.
"Players player of the month" is when each CDP member of staff vote for a member of the team, who they judge to have made an exceptional contribution to the organisation, these awards are known as Players Player.
Pritchar says," After moving to Nottingham where I attained my ECDL, it was difficult getting a job with no hands on experience. I worked with an agency as a carer in a residential home where I evenually became unmotivated with the job.
I had achived all my goals in this role and was ready for a new challenge. My friend advised me about PATRA Inc ACDA and how I could gain work experience and achieve a qualification at the same time. I didn't contact PATRA right away as I felt it was a daunting task. However; my friend kept asking me if I had applied, eventually I decided to contact PATRA and was suprised to get an interview which I was sucessful at the first time.
I was placed with The Crime and Drugs Partnership where I put myself forward and offered to assist anyone in the team of different departments. I began with simple things like photocopying, faxing and filing and didn't complain when I was given more of these than other tasks.
Everyone was friendly and ready to help if I had questions, at the same time I was building relations and also enjoyed taking advantage of the training that was available to me. Support given from PATRA Inc ACDA is tremendous and you're never alone.
I would advise other PATRA Trainee's that a good career is based on hard work, perseverance, forging strong relationships and being prepared to start with smallest tasks that may seem menial. Its hard at first, but you overcome it if you're willing to learn. Once you've built relationships, people start to trust you with bigger tasks which open doors to new opportunities.
I felt overjoyed to be voted "Players Player of the month" and although I was only 7 months into my traineeship, it felt good to be recognised as a valued part of the team and that I had been able to make an important and constructive contribution to the team. I appreciate the support and look forward to the next stage in my career"
